My 84 Silverado does not have a cargo lamp and I won a great used one with wireing and switch on ebay but do not know how to hook it up to the dome light etc. I know I need to drill a hole over the rear window. Now remember, I am 69 so make it so I can understand.

Surely someone has a diagram of how the cargo lamp is wired??? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I just finished my truck this spring, it came factory with a cargo light but there were several issues with it. I had a burnt wire and switch issues. But I do remember the basic wiring of the setup. Basically there is a constant hot up at the light, the door switch completes the circuit with grounding. So for the cargo light just tap into the hot 12v+ at the light and run it to the switch you will probably mount in the pillar. Then hook it to the switch and run that hot to the new cargo light. You can ground the cargo light wherever you want. I didnt trace my ground for the cargo light as there was no issue with it. So im not sure where they factory gound it.

This gets power and switching for your light and keeps it in the dome light circuit.
