Brighter reverse lights?

Hello guys, I have a 72 pickup and was wondering if there was anyway to make my reverse lights brighter?

You can a LED. bulb for the reverse lights.

Wire in some fog lights under the rear bumper. On a switch (helps with tailgaters at nite) or just wire into reverse lights.

I purchased the halogens, and if they are not bright enough I will go with the leds.

Run an extra ground wire...I actually ran two of them and it made them a LOT brighter.

Thanks, I ran grounds for the brake lights but did not think about running one for the reverse lights.

About 12 years ago I bought some fog light bulbs that had the same base as a 1156 bulb that I installed in a s 10 and it looked like headlights when backing up I will see if I can find manufacturer and bulb number I think they were made by blazer lighting

I have done the chrome paint and foil backed tape in the reverse housing.

Filament bulbs will loose their brightness over time, i think they are around 460 lumens new. Keep in mind though that the 460 lumens is not focused or directed. This is why the chroming or reflective tape helps.

I have just recently tackled this issue with LEDs, but it was not cheap. I fabricated some LED panels with 60 bright LED's totaling over 350 lumens each side, directing the light straight back. These are blinding and might not be considered legal in some states. i can post pics of how i did it if anyone wants.

I think I read somewhere that white paint is better for the housing than silver

This LED license plate frame looks interesting, but based on the reviews might have some durability issues. Looks like some of the buyers have had to seal the frame during install and coat with UV protection, but might be worth a try.

The original 1156 bulbs are rated at 32 candle power. This is the same luminosity as the stock brake lights with 4 CP for the running light filaments. The 1157 bulb has 32/4 CP, with dual base contacts.
I can never get a straight answer about converting candlepower to lumens.
