panhard rod

Hey Everyone...
I need to know what is the length of a stock panhard rod for a 65 chevy short step. I slid off the road the other day and bent mine and was planning on going to a boneyard and seeing about finding another..I've read 24 inch and 27 inch, but don't know which is correct..Thank You in advance and God Bless US All....John

Why not just measure yours along its new shape? Bending it does not change its length.

Thumbs up Re: panhard rod

See here, Post#10, for buying a new adjustable one that their forum says fits our trucks for $49 including shipping. Seems that SOME new 1997-2009 LaCrosse, Impala, Monte Carlo, Grand Prix, other GM's come with adj'l bars that fit on our 60's pickups. Post shows an Ebay link that gives applications you may want to search salvage yards for & maybe get it used cheaper.

Re: panhard rod

I just removed mine from my '66 to install an adjustable trac bar. If you want to cover the shipping, you can have it. Let me know.

Re: panhard rod

If you are ordering an adjustable one from cpp I would call them and make sure it is the right length. I ordered on for my 62 and it was to long. I had to cut it down and retap it.

Re: panhard rod

This is the one I pulled off my 65 to install my new Porterbuilt adjustable track bar, it measures 24 inches center to center. PM me if you want it

Re: panhard rod

Thanks for all the responses...I haven't removed the bar yet and only looked up under it. I was going to get one to replace it so I could just remove the old one and install the new one... 24 inches is what it is. Our local boneyard has about 10 old trucks in it, so I should be able to get one with no problems. Just a matter of taking it off..Thank You and God Bless US All.....John
