Opinions on POL's 5-lug disc brake conversion kit

Hey all, I was wanting everyones opinion on Performance Online's 5-lug disc brake conversion kit they offer. I am in the process of completely stripping my 67 to the frame. Im wanting to do a 5-lug disc brake conversion, as well as a 4 1/2 drop on the front. I like that they offer alot of other front end parts to replace the old used ones. Just looking for opinions, good or bad. I've learned alot the hard way, just trying to do some homework on stuff before I purchase. If you have used another similar setup kit like this I'm open to hear about it. Thanks!

here's the link to the POL kit

I have ordered a few things from them. Nice stuff for the money. Have not ordered any brake parts.

Re: Opinions on POL's 5-lug disc brake conversion kit

POL is the sorriest excuse for a company I've ever experienced. Use CPP or ECE or go with a fresh set of Keds first. A pox on them and their house.

What problems have you had with POL? and do you know if CPP or ECE has a comparable 5-lug disc brake conversion kit that is similar to what I am looking at from POL? Thanks

Re: Opinions on POL's 5-lug disc brake conversion kit

I bought the complete conversion/drop spindle kit form them.... as well as many other items.... Never had a single problem that they where not more than happy to fix on the spot.
Great service, good product..

Re: Opinions on POL's 5-lug disc brake conversion kit

I have the 5 lug conversion from POL and am very happy with it. They use western chassis parts, have good service and fast shipping with all correct parts ordered. I will no longer use CPP after my experiences with each company.

Take a look at the McGaughys kits. I bought one but haven't had time to install it. I purchased it because of the price and they use pretty standard GM parts that can be easily replaced in the future.

Here's the details: Link

Cliff notes. They make a mistake, you pay. And keep in mind they only offered this when I demanded to speak with the owner. "The owner does not take calls" I was told. The tech guys work in the shipping department is that tells you anything.

Re: Opinions on POL's 5-lug disc brake conversion kit

I've had success with POL in the past....haven't used many of their products but what I've gotten has been reasonably priced and high quality.

If you get CPP make sure to buy it from a board vendor and look up the issues a lot of guys are having with their spindles....

ECE and POL both use Western Chassis Spindles from my personal experience

Re: Opinions on POL's 5-lug disc brake conversion kit

After much thought I decided to go with CPP's grand slam kit. They offer all of the parts that POL offered, but the grand slam kit included alot more extra parts for the price. I actually called CPP before I ordered and spoke with some tech guys and the customer service was just fine IMO. I heard that was one of CPP's weak spots, but checked out fine for me. I also like that they have a lifetime guarantee on all parts. Hopefully I dont regret my decision.

....and if the tie rods and ball joints fit the spindles...

You should be fine but make sure to get everything in and inspect the parts before tearing down the old suspension if it's your driver or you need it moved...

I've used a lot of cpp parts and have been pleased overall...but have had orders take weeks extra, have parts missing, damaged (not in shipping) and have seen others having issues with their spindles recently...

ITs been awhile since I was on, but I did recieve all of my parts about week and a half ago. Just got home a few days ago and inspected everything, and all was fine. Took a little over a week for all 10 packages to arrive, which didnt bother me because I wasnt in a huge hurry. So far I havent had any negative issues with CPP, or there customer service. The gentleman I delt with personally sent me email updates on my order which I liked. I guess consider me one of the few that didnt get "rubbed wrong" by CPP

Have you already bought them? Scott's Hot Rods can get them for you at a discount, and because he does so much business with them, he gets orders through pretty quickly. If anything comes up, he can get tech on it quick too.

I have heard of plenty of problems with CPP but I have yet to encounter any problems when ordering from them thru EBAY.

Re: Opinions on POL's 5-lug disc brake conversion kit

You've done well then two of my bad deals threads were from ebay orders (one steering wheel listed as nice billet that came in as a cheap one that was a blemished also. And a tilt column that was damaged before packaging (because no damage to the box or their very nice packaging. Then when I sent it back for a new one they sent me the same one missing parts. Jeff @ cpp finally got both of those resolved for me...

Re: Opinions on POL's 5-lug disc brake conversion kit

I definitely recommend ordering through scotts or porterbuilt or another board vendor but understand what a good deal can be had on ebay is hard to pass up (I still buy cpp stuff from ebay knowing I can file a paypal dispute if needed......but not if I need the parts in a hurry...

You are right there have been enough complaints to proceed with caution.

Dang, I missed out out on the discount info from Scott's Hot Rods. Lesson learned there. Hopefully I dont encounter all of these mishaps through CPP. I ordered 2 days ago and havent received any shipping information yet, only an email that my order was recieved. Fingers crossed.

My guess would be a minimum of three weeks.
