1968 1/2 ton....part it or bring it back???

I bought this truck for song and a dance and i'm so undecided as to what to do.
I wanted most of the sheet metal to make my 68 perfect and in addition take the razor straight front panel and wood floor braces and tailgate and make my bed a wood bed eventually but the more i look at the old girl the more i want her back on the road. trouble is...i have too many projects and the wife is over it.
Here are the options...
Plan A: part it and store the parts for a long time
plan B: bring her back to life and sell her
Plan C: do a non-op for now and store it
I'm so undecided...
The PO had it for 35 years and it cought fire under the dash. But I have in my stash of parts 90% of whats needed to make her right again. Not show but a cool daily driver. It runs and i think in 2 days of work and cleaning it can be on the road again but...I don't know
Please help

Take what you need...part the rest. It's not like you are junking it for scrap, others use the parts to build their projects

I'd take what I needs and part the rest too depending on what the rest of it looks like

Plan B. Sounds like it's got alot of life left, why kill it just for some parts? They make almost everything repro now a days so it's not like these truck parts are hard to get. I'd say fix it, sell it and use the money for your other projects. Then everybody wins.

Everyday we lose more and more of the old cars/trucks. When they are too far gone, sure part them but if savable I'd always opt to keep them alive.

Here where I live there aren't many around anymore. I just got a parts truck yesterday but believe me, it's a parts truck! Sitting since 95 and rusty/crusty.

I agree with bob. Too many of these trucks getting parted out. Pretty soon there won't be hardly any left.

Keep it on the road. Get it road ready with the parts you have, flip it. Make wife happy with extra money, and less stuff taking up space.

If you have most of the parts to get it going. fix it and drive it or sell it for someone else to drive. Lots of these trucks are being scraped everyday.

I would at least clean it up take what you need and fix what you have the extra parts for and turn it around if that means road worthy or roller I'm sure somebody would want the project.I agree with all above

X2

Though I would just clean it up, swap the better parts onto your truck.
Find a second hand wire harness and gauge cluster, get it running and then sell it whole instead of parting it.

Have a great thanks giving.

Re: 1968 1/2 ton....part it or bring it back???

Btw. This truck came with a tilt forward bench seat... Never seen that! Can someone tell me what the spring mounted under the seat is all about? I'm guessing it was mounted to the backrest of the bench set so it would easily return back??? There's also a chrome small tab mounted in the middle above the gas tank that I've never seen in other trucks. What is that all about?

Re: 1968 1/2 ton....part it or bring it back???

Parting it requires WORK and TIME...and then you're left with some bigger items that you might end up having to junk/haul away.

Sounds like your wife would prefer it to be gone...now.

Plan B... but don't put too much time or money into it. Or just sell her now for a few more than you paid.

Happy Thanksgiving, btw!

Re: 1968 1/2 ton....part it or bring it back???

Mo, I'm pretty sure I have an old wiring harness/gauge cluster that I can donate to the cause if needed...

What caused the fire? The horn relay 12V hot?

I think the spring allows the seat to pull forward automatically.

That looks like a tilt column, btw. (I'm sure you know.)

Let me know if you do part it...
