Unhappy I Have Cancer!!!!

Anyone got any ideas on how to fix this mess? I saw a rust bubble there and decided to weld it up. well it turned out to be this under all the sealer. ideas? Yes shaving the drip rail is now a option.

The thing that is bitting me in the @ss is there is nothing else wrong with this cab except this. ERRRRRRRRRRRRRR I am not a happy camper.

you have AC now. I have the same problem but not as bad, mine is so far just the drip rail. I dont think it would be too hard to make a filler panel and weld it in.

If the bottom of the truck(cab) looks good, I would splice a top on it All you need is a good little mig, & be sure to weld a couple straps across the door openings before you cut the top loose.....& a lot of patience . Good luck,crazyL

If you find a decent cab just replace the whole thing. Its wont be cheap to replace only the top of a cab.

The water that caused that went somewhere. I'm guessing your kick panel vents are shot as well. You might want to do a thorough inspection of the rest of the cab before you spend the time fixing the roof area.

i think that a whole cab swap would be the way to go, never know what else is rusted out

That sucks I had a near perfect cab on mine I thought till I looked under the plenums and found grapefruit sized holes patched with silicone.If you decide to go with a another top I've got one I could get as far as Jacksonville with no shipping charges.It has one dent in it.

I say fill it with filler, shoot some primer on it for now. That should last long enough to find and prep a new cab. The new top sounds good at first, but in labor hours its a dog. Just my opinion.

Florida huh? What's the history on it, do you know? It may have spent time parked on or near the ocean. I call it Cranberry Juice Rust, you know from Ocean Spray. Tends to settle in on areas that have horizontal seams on the upper part of the body, like the cab roof. Another area is the seam on the outerfender that the hood sits on and hinges are bolted. Definately not the rustbelt variety that eats a vehicle from the bottom up from road salt. I bought a parts truck that was used on and near the submarine yards in CT. Same thing, roof was eaten away badly. I suspect your truck suffers from the combination of poor seam sealing from factory and ocean salt spray.

Best advise so far, patch it for now and look for another cab.

Find someone with a junk cab (with a good roof) and have them cut out that part of the roof. Then use that for patch panels. A lot easier than replacing the cab. I did this to mine. Just my $0.02.

Slammed that has been my thought too, but it my daily driver,and its just not the right time for that kind or work(no back up car right now). Every thing else I have done welding wise only take a hour tops. It just sucks right now!!!

I have the same problem, rust above the windshield and through all of my driprail. I have a cab roof section laying at my house, but since my truck also needs both rockers, floorpans, and cab supports, i decided to look for another cab.
