Chris.'s "new" 50 build
Hello all I'm Chris I recently bought (August) a 50' 5 window 3100. I have all ways wanted one I have had other custom trucks in the past. I now look at them as practice for this truck I'm 28 and figured it may be time to build my forever truck before my 2 girls get older and have College and Weddings bills. I plan to do a Resto Mod of sorts I want the truck to look the mostly stock, but be bagged. I haven't decided for sure yet but i I'd like to use the stock engine and trans.

Chris., Welcome from PA. What are you going to do for the suspension? Sounds like a good project.

Re: Chris.'s "new" 50 build
got some stuff done finally, this x-member went in super easy and is the nicest aftermarket part I've ever ordered.
hardest part was cutting the frame for the rack notches because my plasma cutter is down currently |

Re: Chris.'s "new" 50 build
Got my new rear, it,s from a 2000 4x4 blazer and has disk brakes. I'll be working on the 4 link next. I didn't know my buddy was taking pics on his phone while I was working these are a few.

Re: Chris.'s "new" 50 build
Got the rear and torque tube out. Set the new blazer rear under the frame just to see it low. Then I popped the cab off to make space to work. I'll be setting the engine and new T5 trans in and notching the frame this weekend.

Re: Chris.'s "new" 50 build
Thanks guys!
I got the T5 rigged up for mock up, got the notches built (still need to fish plate them) got them in place, I'll be welding them up in the next few days. I also found that I had to cut some of the trans x-member out to lay out the way I want, and after I box it in, it and the stock rear forward leaf spring mounts make perfect bump stops so that the running board mounts aren't holding the truck up. Re: Chris.'s "new" 50 build
I am looking forward to more progress on your project, Chris, and hope we all get to share in it. I am also at about the same stage as you with a '50 5-window my son and I are building. We did the Mustang II IFS (though not bagged) and mounted a Chevy 10-bolt on modern leaf springs. We have decided, though, to drop in a 350 crate and A/T to add to the driveability of the truck. Can't wait to see more photos!
