Looks like a modded truck some company did.
I though our trucks were square enough but damn. That thing has the aerodynamics of a barn going down the road! Posted via Mobile Device

Re: Argentina square body van??
Being a true GM Truck lover,I see these as some of the best looking stepvan-type vehicles made. The original StepVans shared the trick grille designs and they were really cool. These go beyond that and even share the side body lines. True,no box van is built to be a style king...uh,duh? But,being what these are and what they are built for,I think they are way cool! Sometimes you have to think outside of the box. Well,in this case, you have to think "box".

Re: Argentina square body van??
That's definitely a conversion, but I just don't get why they would go through all the trouble to build that? Seems like a TON of fabrication to get it to that point. My first instinct is that it would have been much easier to buy and import a bunch of G or P series vans that would require no modifications, but they must have had some reason to build those.

Re: Argentina square body van??
After seeing this thread it sparked my curiosity so I spent quite a while googling this thing last night. They say Chevrolet Frontal but they look like a 3rd party body company conversation that was used on non GM chassis as well. I noticed that the chassis is not always a GM chassis nor is the powertrain. Some of these that are on Argentina and Brazil’s version of Ebay have Nissan diesel engines while other has engines I can’t identify but know they are not GM. Some of the chassis actually look like Renault chassis and possibly engines. I also noticed the bodies are not steel but appear to be fiberglass. That was noticeable in a picture of one that was wrecked in the front and it was obviously fiberglass. Definitely weird vans that is for sure!
Weird things happen with conversions. Look at this van my company used to build. The nose cone was designed to look like an overgrown Chevrolet Astro van and we now have them that look like an International Durastar truck too.

Re: Argentina square body van??
They seriously look like a hacked up truck, but seeing the front fender cracked that definitely does look like fiberglass. Maybe it's like how motor homes sometimes borrow headlights, tail lights, and grills off already made vehicles because they are cheap and plentiful.
It certainly does make more sense that it's a fiberglass body, seems that would be easier to mass produce than hacking up a truck. Maybe making it look like a Chevy truck was a brand recognition thing. The 68-72 Nova that we know here was sold in Argentina long past 1972 and has quite a following. Lots of hot rod 250 I6's over there that are quite fast.

Re: Argentina square body van??
More GM trucks from South America:
This one out of Brazil, The Veraneio, originally known as a Chevrolet C-1416, was an SUV manufactured in Brazil from '64-88. The truck is based on a C10 pickup chassis and is powered by an inline-six, based on the pre-'62 Stovebolt motors. The interior used the instrument cluster from a '60-66 Chevy truck, and for the most part mocked the interior scheme of that truck. As for the distinctive sheetmetal of the Vareneio, it was exclusive to the Brazilian-built machines. Another interesting fact is that the SUV utilized four passenger doors, unlike many of the three door American Suburbans-and they also made a standard truck version. And a member here I think that actually has a Veraneio: http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...d.php?t=460050 |

Re: Argentina square body van??
That thing is ugly as sin, I love it!
The pic of the buss makes me miss Central America. There are A LOT of vehicles in Central and South America that to not exist in the US ( or that are not common here )

Re: Argentina square body van??
By simply adding a visor to these things it creates a completely different look . box with a visor stuck on it.
