info or knowledge on c60 detroit diesels
so next door to the little airport i work at, is the fire dept and police training post. Ive always seen this old chevy late 60s pvan looking bus. I assumed it had no motor. They use it for hostage training and all that. Well curiousity got me today into looking at it to see the heart of the beast. Guessing it was a bigblock and maybe i found a 396. Got to it, looked in it and it took a second to register what i was looking at. I realized it was a diesel. So i researched and its an 8.2 v8 detroit called a fuel pincher. No tranny but complete with huge turbo. Im gonna try to get my hands on it for use on a c20 or 30 down the road. Anyone know about these old motors?

Re: info or knowledge on c60 detroit diesels
Used to work for Detroit Diesel. I built the 8.2 and called it the smurf motor due to it's color.
These are "bad" (I mean bad) about blowing head gaskets. There as some updates out there, but nothing sure proof. At one time Bluebird (the bus makers) had a lot of problems with them as unreliable and costly. I would stay away! C |
