67 in the weeds!
No title parts truck. The price was well below scrap but there was a catch.... I had to take all the rubbish in the bed with it. Thought no big deal, since I had help and now my achilles is better and I can hobble around with a walking boot ok. Well, that's where the fun began. Had a friend air up the tires as best as we could (been sitting here for 10 years or so). I then hooked the winch with block and tackle to it and it started to pull my HD and trailer and this truck didn't move an inch! Come to find out there was about 3000lbs of shingles tar paper and metal in the bed. oh, and the rear wheels had sunk in from all that weight. We unloaded 1000lbs of stuff from the bed onto the trailer, and went home without the truck. Second pic is the first load of junk after I cleaned it off the flatbed, not including 300lbs of tar paper rolls, a V8 block (chrysler i think),and a waverunner lift.

Re: 67 in the weeds!
I knew there was junk to contend with but the fact it was 3000lbs of tar paper and shingles, that was more than I was planning on
Quote:
Now to clean out the bed. Tar paper and removed roof was all fused together into one solid glob that was too heavy to pick out as one mass yet hard to break apart. I swung by the dumpster at work and got rid of the heavy roofing stuff and now it was just manageable smaller stuff. Here is how it looked before and after getting the heavy stuff out:

Re: 67 in the weeds!
Thank you Jeremy Z for helping and lining up the deal for me. Loaded up the truck on sat with floor jack, 2 spares, 30 ton bottle jack, and more daylight then headed back. Jacked it up, put the spares under the pass side and dropped her back down. Now there was only 2000lbs left in the bed. Hooked the winch back up and now the truck would only move with the two rear tires sliding hard. Jacked it back up, confirmed it was the brakes that were locked, and then beat for 1/2 hour on the brake drum. Finally got those off and then it was a relief to see the wheels spin! She then pulled on the trailer with ease. Sure looks better on the old flatbed.

Re: 67 in the weeds!
Got it all cleaned out and down to the diamond plate bed floor. The diamond plate made it easier to scoop out, finally caught a break. Found a few hubcaps in the bed too!

Re: 67 in the weeds!
Ok, now about the truck, btw- no parts for sale at this time. Its true, 6cyl plain jane, 3OTT do exist around here, but aren't too common. First truck I've ever hauled home that had a 30TT or anything lighter than a 350. This is a three option frugal farmer truck.
Now for the good: thanks to another thread on here, we're fairly certain this has a later model 4spd OD trans in it! Left fender appears to be almost perfect, can use on my 67 GMC's along with rearview mirror mount. At least one good T3, and the tailgate is dent free and nice except for one area that had dirt against it. If I can weld in a patch it will be a real nice gate. Two semi decent 70 CST hubcaps also. All in all, I am glad I picked it up. Here are even more pics

Re: 67 in the weeds!
wow another nice score Jud, what mirrors are those? The bed on this one looks like it would be better suited for trailer duty then the green one.

Wow, nice score on the 67! Looks like alot of nice parts there for sure...
I think those are Jr. West Coast mirrors... Had a NOS set a while ago that looked exactly like those.

Re: 67 in the weeds!
Tony, I think they are aftermarket. Seem to be thin aluminum. Yes, I was looking at the box on the trailer again and its really too nice for a trailer! Oh, and theres a D60 3.54 under there I need to come up with a better use for.

Re: 67 in the weeds!
That must be it. I zoomed in on the shifter knob and it is OD! I wonder if I could make this work in my 67 GMC 4x4? Would be nice with the 0.7 final drive ratio. Have you seen it done, what adapters are needed?

Re: 67 in the weeds!
I have this photo of the Shifter unit in what appears to be a 4WD application; so it has been done before by the factory.
I have put one in my 2wd Suburban using the Classic Truck's article for reference (* the photos in the article do not jive with the captions). I have a 305 V-6. Here are some links http://www.classicjunkyard.com/new_process_a833.htm http://www.customclassictrucks.com/t...n/viewall.html
