Another 700r4 question
So, I'm now to the point of swapping speedo gears on my 700R4. My question is, do I need to put back the "sleeve" that was on the shaft that butts up against the gear? It's about 3 1/2-4 inches long. I can't find anything that talks about it.

Re: Another 700r4 question
I don't remember a sleeve when I did mine from elect to mech... I would say if the gear fits on the shaft tight then I say no. It would help if I knew exactly what the part was.

Re: Another 700r4 question
If the slip yoke has a "weep hole" in it....You need the sleeve.
If not.....Leave it off. The weep hole relieves pressure buildup caused by the yoke moving back an forth as the vehicle passes over bumps. If you have a weep hole & need to reinstall the sleeve....Replace the O-ring GM P/N 3764601 |

Re: Another 700r4 question
Take the yoke off the drive shaft, Drill & tap the hole to 10-32, Cut down a 10-32 screw to about 3/8", Put some Red Loctite on it & run it in, Let sit for 24 hours to let the Loctite cure, This is a permanent fix, & beats buying a $100 Yoke.
