Another one followed me home.. 1961 Apache short fleet
I just can't walk away from these damn things....
I took this in on trade a few days ago. 350/700R4 Bagged No notch yet and no drop spindles yet. I threw a set of 15x6 and 15x8 steelies on it, and tired to clean it alittle. Poor truck was filthy...lol It got set down on a boulder and smashed drivers rocker, and must of backed into something on passenger rear bedside, so needs some TLC. My 16yr old is happy to do another one this winter. BUT no deadlines like the last one. 12wks was unreasonable..although it was done in 15.... My buddy said we must be running a C10 rescue....lol But at least the leave us in much better shape than they arrive. We're not on same playing field as Delmo, Dino and many others here, but we do what we can.... I'm going to sell the hood and likely the grille. I just don't like the 60-62 hoods. I know many here do, but I just don't. And I'm torn about the grille. Its in decent shape with decent chrome but not a fan of quad headlights on these. So it may go too. I'm gonna look for a 63-66 hood and a painted 64-66 grille. Otherwise, gonna drive it for a few days then blow it apart for makeover. Stay tuned. Posted via Mobile Device

Thanks but not paying shipping from NC. Too many grilles close by to be had.
And also, the front will set lower. Its sitting on the front tires when air'd down now. Theyre 235-75s, I'll run 205-75s. So the front will drop another inch with nothing more than tire change.

What kind of shape is that hood in?
I'm in Atlanta, but have family in Ohio and get up there frequently. -Brad

Im basicly taking it all apart and doing my way. Im not thrilled with much of it. My 16yr old was even like...WTH??!!.... I'll let him tear it all out and we"ll make a better plan. The bed is held on with a hope and a prayer.. Both compressors are held on with electrical tape and zip ties.. All 4 bags are run to one switch. Its either all up or all down.. It goes on and on.... So, we have a gameplan, and its getting blown apart for a makeover..

Hey Grumpy - I finally slowed down long enough to find your post - it's a decent looking truck for starters. I've had MUCH worse in the past.
Merry Christmas! |
