Question...Front tire rubbing...What Size?
Ok...I got the new Lunati Cam installed and the cam is what I've been looking for. Now I think I have my front tires (P275x60x15's) rubbing on the inside fender wells. I have them on 8" rally rims. What size do I need to go down to so my tires do not rub? I have a 1981 front end on my 70cst so I doi have a quicker steering box and I believe a shorter turning radius. As always your help is appreciated.
PS...Yes I know one solution is not to turn to short but in my old age I forget. HEHEHE Also Remember...Blessed are those who go around in circles for they shall be called the big wheels!! 70cst |

70cst,
Do not have the answer, but do have a couple of questions. Is your front end dropped? Is it wider because you used a later model front end? I have the same size tires and wheels, but have not gotten the front clip back on since I lowered the truck. Would like to know if this is something that I will need to address real soon.

I ran a 3" drop up front with 275/60/15's with a 15X8 wheel and never once rubbed. Ralley's have a 5" backspace, I had aluminum wheels with a 4" bs. Try a 245/60/15 , that is another very common tire to run up front.

OK...I see where it is rubbing. It is rubbing on the inside front lower control arms. I have a 2 1/2"/ 4" drop on a 1981 front end. It's going to take smaller tires on front so likely I will go with the 245's on the front. It might be possible that since the 81 front end has a tighter turning radius this is why I'm having rubbing problems? As always your feedback is appreciated.
