Some squarebody love on deployment
These things are taking over the world!!
I finally snapped some pics of some squarebodies that have been running around where I am currently deployed. There are actually quite a few of them running around and I think it's pretty damn cool.

Streets, street lights, no up-armored anything, buildings, electrical power lines, radio antennae, trees, palm trees, guard rails..where is this deployment at? And where do I sign up?

Re: Some squarebody love on deployment
Believe me this isn't the norm for any deployments that I have been on. We are calling this the best worst deployment ever.
As far as where we are specifically I can't say, just the middle east.

I know where you are, funny how one can recognize certain things. Just be glad it isn't summer, the suck-o-meter pegs in the summer there. Still, it could be worse... you could be here, Operation Enduring Freedom - brought to you by Toyota

Re: Some squarebody love on deployment
Thanks. The only time I am in any kind of danger is when we are driving out in town. These guys are f-ing crazy when it comes to driving!!

Re: Some squarebody love on deployment
It's not that it's a big secret, I just can't say bc the command here is like a snap-on truck, just full of tools. We aren't supposed to take pictures, we can't say where we are other than the middle east. Our next location is going to have alcohol and liberty, not that i care but it's pretty cool. Almost 13 yrs in the Corps and this is the most skate@ss deployment, not even sure I would classify this as a deployment.
Been there too!!

Back to the subject, the Mid East just makes sense for American trucks... no one else in the world really made anything like them for years and years. Cheap gas and as you said they all drive like maniacs... it's like Bangkok meets Formula 1 Don't get in an accident - you're automatically at fault if you aren't a LN... yikes!

Re: Some squarebody love on deployment
People forget that the only ways to kill a square is wreck it or have it rust away! Since the 'Sand Box' has no salt/rust issues, the trucks only die when totaled.
(FYI... 'Sand Box' areas like stepsides, fleetsides are almost non-existent there...) My parents went on a mission trip several years ago to Venezuela. They stated on their return that they saw thousands of 73-87's while there. |
