Going with origional wheels have some ?'s

Well I am finally getting around to starting my restoration on a 1951 3100 chevrolet pickup. I gathered up 5 origional wheels and I am thinking of going with the coker tires (bf goodrich 16 6.0) and the tubes my question is do the origional wheels need a liner put on them?

You should always run a rubber inner liner against a tube. Overtime the inner wheel band will draw moisture and oxidize. That oxidation is rough and wears on the tube causing it to wear thin and leak. I have seen people prep and paint them, use tool dip and also spray in bedliner with a mild non abrasive texture instead of running liners. Your local farm implement store will have liners if the local tire shop doesn't.

Newfisher is pretty well right on. As it appears that you live in farm country you shouldn't have a problem with the local tire store you deal with knowing what to do with rims that require tubes.

Since you are probably digging up wheels that may be an unknown quantity I'd suggest bolting each front rim to one of your front hubs and turning it to check for out of round and lateral runout. I'd do that before I spent any time or money sandblasting or stripping them an painting or powdercoating them. As the rims are 60 years old you don't know what abuse they may have been handed until you check them to make sure that they are ok.
