Cooling system Q's
Alright guys, I am new to the truck building game but am learning as I go. I have a '66 c10 with a 305 V8. I have installed a painless wiring kit and am about to purchase a champion 2 row aluminum radiator with 16" fan. I am going to replace the water pump as well. My question is thermostats, how do I know which one to buy? Do not know if this should be common sense. Had overheating issues at they Turkey Rod run with belt slipping and now it heats up very quickly in traffic, before the rod run never had an issue. Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Re: Cooling system Q's
190 is pretty much standard temp across the board.

Re: Cooling system Q's
I would also suggest in using one that when it fails ...it fails in the open position

Re: Cooling system Q's
In Florida, I would think a 180* would be best

Re: Cooling system Q's
We were running a two row in my wife's 61 and still had an overheating problem. We upgraded to a Champion 4 row. My 64 C10 runs a 2 row, on 95 degree days here it pushes 200 degrees while in traffic. On the open road about 180 degrees.
