2wd 1/2 ton control arms....is there an HD version?
My 1976 is a heavy half and has the 56" rear leafs, bigger brakes etc. I swear I read on here that either the upper or lower has an HD option with bigger shaft but I cant remember for sure. If there is a difference how can I tell what I have?

me either, but I swear I read Ken post that. I do know when searching for bushings it specifys 1-1/2" shaft for LCA and why would it specify that if there wasnt something different. I just want to make sure before I buy new parts.

Ken? Which one..
The bushings, shafts, B/Js are different on the larger trucks. As far as I know the control arms are the same, even on the C30.

Could mean 13" diameter rotors or the HD 1-1/4" wide rotors vs. the 1" light duty rotors.

The arms are the same except 1/2 ton use rubber bushings where 3/4 to 1 tons use greasable style bushings same as 63 to 72 1/2 tons. Ball joints are bigger too.

Re: 2wd 1/2 ton control arms....is there an HD version?
And some of the real heavy duty 1 tons used a different control arm shaft. On my R30, the lower shaft bolts to the crossmember, and not with u-bolts either. The shaft itself has jugs on it that bolt straight to the bottom of the crossmember with nary a Ubolt in sight.

Re: 2wd 1/2 ton control arms....is there an HD version?
I haven't personally confirmed this with my own hands, but its commonly reported here on the board that larger trucks used bigger ball joints, not just the stud, but the body being bigger with a correspondingly bigger hole in the control arm.
