292 question

Does the 292 engine run the exact carburation as the other inline sixes in 1966. I have a 292 engine that is said to run great but came without its original carb. I want an original carb for this engine . Any idea what I will be looking for?...........Truck has a powerglide if that makes any difference.

Re: 292 question

The stock carb is probably a 1 BBL Rochester. Not sure of the CFM. Can you take pics of the manifold?

Re: 292 question

The 66 option catalog has the 292 with 1BBL Rochester, venturi ID (in) 1.625, SAE flange size (in) 1.5.
The 230 and 250 had an venturi ID of 1.343.

Not sure if I would take that absolute, maybe things were changed depending on where the engine was made and when.

Re: 292 question

I know the carbs will bolt up to one another the only difference I know of is the cfm. My 292 had a 66 jet where my 230 had a 64 ( if I remember correctly )

Re: 292 question

I have a rebuildable 292 1BBL Rochester for sale if your interested PM me. It came off of a 66 C-60 with a manual trans. so maybe someone would know if it would work with your powerglide as far as a kickdown goes.
