need help with ID # on block
looked up casting number for the 292 L 6 lake pump motor i got the other day, it has 3851659 casting on both sides, i looked it up and showed that it was a 1963 to 1976 292....and behind the dist. it has F0927PG and i can't seam to find a link that says what that is....anybody help me with this number....

F = Flint 09 = september 27 = 27th of september PG = 1963 or 1964 292cid, 165hp, manual trans RPO code L-25 1bbl carb, The date code will tell if it's a 63 or 64, check the last number Ole dollar sure does look good, you did a great job with her.

man thanks a bunch for the info....where did you get the info. and thanks for the flowers on ole dollor...still a work in progress. is the date code like con 2, that's at the right side back of the motor and a clock under it at about 5 o clock

Date code should be just to the right of con2
Con 2 is the conveyor number. Your block came down conveyor number 2 at Flint. The book I have is a field handbook called chevy inline 6 number and code guide. The author is mark s. allen, and it will fit in your shirt pocket.

Your welcome, That's why I bought it. There wasn't a great resource for I6 suffix codes like the V-8, I think it cost around 15 dollars, and I got it from amazon.
