1990 th400 swap into 1972?
Hey guys, looking at putting a th400 (3l80) from a 90 3/4 chev p/u, into my 72 swb Chevy. Are the newer th400 the same as the older models? Other than an electric speedo? Thanks!

Re: 1990 th400 swap into 1972?
1990 was still a 400 in most of the big trucks the 1987--92 had 700R4 cable i think in 1992 they went Electric 400.But if your going to try and get good horse power and what it for pulling and hauling keep your 400 and get a Gear vender then you have a 6 speed that gate gas mileage just a though

Re: 1990 th400 swap into 1972?
Thats why i want it, the truck has a gear vendor od in it. Just wondering if they made any changes in 90 to the th400 that would make it a p.i.t.a to install or convert to a old truck. Only thing i could think of would be the speedo if they changed to electric?
