Anyone store their Blazer or truck on overhead lift?
I have a really tall garage and the wife wants me to store my 72 k5 off the property. Ive been looking into the idea of storing it on one of those residential auto lift but not sure if the lifts are worth it or just space eaters for a garage. Would like to be able to park wifes car under the blazer. Any thoughts or pics would be great. Thank you in advance.

Wifey probably won't mind a little goo on her car that dribbles out of the Blazer....
If you figure what inside storage costs for a car/truck the lift will pay for itself pretty quick.... also, the lift surely is nice for repair/maint./detailing.

i dont have one but my buddy hsa one he uses to store his 2 classic porches. it works great and turns a 2 car garage into a 3 car garage. not to mention the pros of service and the cost is afordable. plus they are easly taken down and moved if needed.

Re: Anyone store their Blazer or truck on overhead lift?
In my opinion every car nut should have a lift anyway. I bought my first lift about 20 years ago and wondered why the hell I laid on my back all the years prior Can't live without one now.
Yes I've used it for storage for short periods of time but most of the time I need the lift for work so often that it's not feasable to store something on. Which is why I'm looking at a second lift just for storage purposes, I'm packed with too many cars. I use a 2 post lift for working to keep the underside clutter free. The 4 post "drive on" lifts are great for storage, and trays are made to fit under the vehicle for those that dribble Sweet thing about the 4 post lifts that I'm looking at now, is that they also have wheel attachments to roll them around. I can roll it outside on the concrete and power wash bottom sides of vehicles, as well as media blast for paint work. |

A good friend of mine has a 40x80 shop...and still runs out of room. They have a 2 post lift, and do commonly store a car lifted up with another below it. Keep in mind a 2 post lift will be in the way for a vehicle your wife drives every day with the close proximity to where her doors will open.

The 2 post lifts aren't really bad as far as opening doors so long as you get the asymmetrical arms. It offsets the car from the post so opening the doors aren't really a problem. That's what I use. |

The asymmetrical arms do help a lot with opening the doors on the car you are lifting, but keep in mind, the wife will a have to pay attention to make sure she pulled forward far enough (or not to far) to have the door clear, and also depending on position, she may have to watch out for the back doors of a 4 door car as well.
