Help me out with ideas to recondition or paint this AC box

Trucks getting painted now so need to decide what to do with the firewall AC box. I've read a few posts on this with techniques that range from scubbing to painting. Anyone have 0.02 cents to add as to what I should do with mine? Mine looks pretty faded....not sure it would polish up but loathe to paint if I can avoid it. Thanks, Pete

Mine wasn't that faded, but it was faded. I removed the whole thing, disassembled it and hit it with some satin clear from a rattle can.

Re: Help me out with ideas to recondition or paint this AC box

I'm wondering how to paint mine also. The PO had painted it black so I am in the process of taking that off now. I am wondering how to repaint or leave it the way it is. Is it a pain to take it apart?

Re: Help me out with ideas to recondition or paint this AC box

I need to clean mine up as well, but its got what appears to be white paint spattered all over it. Any thoughts on whether it could be sanded?

I'm just using lacquer thinner on mine. Works pretty good

Re: Help me out with ideas to recondition or paint this AC box

All good ideas - I want to keep the original appearance of the "flecking" in the fiberglass as best I can, which is to say avoid a paint job. Thanks.
