I am going to attemt removing the painted grill and installing a new chrome one. Looking at it I am not too sure how it comes out. Any advise?

I answered as if you had a 57, and just noticed you have a 56. Never mind, LOL.
I found that the easiest way to remove it is to remove the four bolts through the bottom pan and the two bolts through the front fenders. Then remove the two bolts on each end of the top bar and remove the grill and the top bar as a unit. Attach the new grill to the top bar and reverse the procedure. Leave bolts loose until all are in and then tighten. Of course, the hood latch panel has to be removed first. Last edited by Russell Ashley; 01-16-2013 at 09:42 AM. Reason: correct dumb mistake. |

Worked almost the same for my 55, but I found it easier on fingers and paint to leave the upper AND lower valences attached to the grill and remove it as a unit. I believe there are only two bolts on each side holding the lower bar in.
