possible modern addition to my 69 chevy
so i was looking through the coolest mods thread and this has running in my head for a while. what do you guys think if i could mod a newer style chevy grill like the one below to replace the whole middle section part of the grill on my 69 chevy stepper. i think it would look pretty sharp just wanna see what kind of reaction there is to this idea so let me know.

Re: possible modern addition to my 69 chevy
I think it'd work great. I always think these new silverado's grilles look reminiscent of the 67-68 grille.

Re: possible modern addition to my 69 chevy
Well, you asked. Ugh. I don't like the idea. The 69 has one of the most beautiful and classic looking grills you can get on any truck. Period. I just spent some time restoring one and installing it, and I really fell in love with the design even more

Re: possible modern addition to my 69 chevy
You could try it but I think it would be too big, all the trucks nowadays are bigger than they used to be.

Re: possible modern addition to my 69 chevy
I have a spare grill I was going to do it with. I like the grill on there now but I can't find th inner and thought it would be a good idea but I also think the new grills are bigger then the ones on them now.

Re: possible modern addition to my 69 chevy
Im curious to see what it would look like if you fabbed it up.. but I dont think I would like it and I sure as heck would never do it on my truck.

Re: possible modern addition to my 69 chevy
I'm thinking if you have the time & the grill, do it. Then post some pics to get an opinion from us. Good luck with your project.

Re: possible modern addition to my 69 chevy
I like the original looks of the '67 - '72 trucks (both Chevy and GMC) and I'm thinking this would create a somewhat strange looking combination. But, hey, it is your truck!

Re: possible modern addition to my 69 chevy
If your looking for a new retro it might work for you. Just dont cut the truck itself to much just in case you hate it lol.

Re: possible modern addition to my 69 chevy
This looks like one of those projects you might want to Photoshop before cutting any metal. I'm just saying....

Re: possible modern addition to my 69 chevy
I too have thought of that as a replacement for mine. The center piece of my grill is pretty bad and it's cheaper (localy) to get a late model one. The jury is still out. Why is it the resto places want and arm and a leg for the replacement grills and parts?

Re: possible modern addition to my 69 chevy
The only thing I see that would make it look weird is the fact that the new grill cuts down toward the bottom \======/ where the 69 grill is straight |========|
