70 stanard options
I'm looking at a 70 lwb , says comes with orignal 4 speed tranny. Was this an option?
And how difficult is it to add power steering? Posted via Mobile Device

Re: 70 stanard options
A C30 would have a four speed as standard. C10-20 K10-20 had three speeds as standard. I'm sure I could tell you more if we knew what you were asking about.

Re: 70 stanard options
Is the steering shaft shorter on a powered gear box?

Re: 70 stanard options
I put PS on my 71 C20. It wasn't difficult at all. I got the steering box, Pittman arm, pump and pulley set from a donor truck, so it all fit just fine. The steering shaft telescoped to adjust, so that wasn't a problem either. I am definitely happier with the power steering.

Re: 70 stanard options
A 70 C10 (it is a C10??) LWB would have come stock with a 3 speed column shift trans.. The engine if a CE10... would have been 307 2 bbl. V-8, a CS10... would have been a 250 I-6 as base engines. Remember '70 was the last year of front drum brakes and 4x2 six lug wheels. This link might help some too.

Re: 70 stanard options
Was a 283 an option in 1970? Like the ones with the oil fill at the front of the intake instead of in the valve cover? Not that it is too big a deal if you aren't worried about being 100% factory correct. I think a little 283 would be fun.

Re: 70 stanard options
No the 283 ended in '68. Many people have them and they are a little better on fuel than a 292 out on the road. You can dress a 283 to look like a later 307/350 just don't expect a MPG increase.

Re: 70 stanard options
The 350 and the P/S are both options and will be listed on the SPID.

Re: 70 stanard options
"Standard" and "options"are mutually exclusive. "Standard"is what you get with out specifying "options".and the options replace the original equipment.
