Shoulder Belts in a 69?
I want to add 3-point seat belts to my truck. Anyone have any pointers on what model/year OEM works well with fitment and installation? I don't want to by aftermarket. Would rather have the GM logo buckles.

Re: Shoulder Belts in a 69?
The problem with period-correct shoulder belts is that they were straight straps bolted to the B-pillar. There was no "give" -- no inertial dampening like the later restraint systems.
The theory was that a dislocated shoulder was better than a crushed sternum on the horn button. Semper Fi!

Re: Shoulder Belts in a 69?
seems my 68 has little caps in the b pillars for a mount and id like to add a 3 point as well not sure if it was forward thinking or not but i guess i'd rather not hit the wheel quite as fast. it seems like the third hole up top is just sheet metal, maybe someone else can shed light on this??
Semper Fi!

Re: Shoulder Belts in a 69?
Don't know about size of the hole in the belt for mounting. But was wondering if anyone looked at S-10 shoulder belts. Do they work? Should be plentiful.

Re: Shoulder Belts in a 69?
I'm not sure which years but lots of people say S-10s work great.

Thanks Stocker. Just need the right direction to go look. Of course surfing ebay is NOT the answer. Everyone wants way too much.

Re: Shoulder Belts in a 69?
How about 2000's chevy truck seats with the shoulder harness built in to the seat and not the pillar?

Re: Shoulder Belts in a 69?
Should you decide to go aftermarket, or junkyard, be careful about which direction the retractor needs to sit in to be able to retract. I got some aftermarket ones from JC Whitney (don't buy from them, they sucked), and the retractor only worked in one position. The problem was, the position was 90 degrees different than the way they would have sat without me making up some brackets. I can't say I'm a fan of modifying safety equipment.
I ended up going with '06 Tahoe seats with a center console that folds up for a third seat. The third point is in the seat.

Re: Shoulder Belts in a 69?
Found a set of black S-10 belts on ebay from a dismantler. And yes they arrived missing the female buckle side. Go figure. Hopefully, I can get them to send me the other half of each belt so I can get them installed.
