Just curious

I've been noticing lately, especially with all the new members joining up, why is it a lot of folks don't put where they are from?

For me, when I answer questions or anything related to what someone asks, I like to know where they live, or at least what area. This helps me as I'm sure it does others, give advice or just chat in general. Things are different in different parts of the country, or world, so this gives us all a idea of what to tell people. What may be cheap where I live, may cost a bunch of money in another area, because of rust or whatever.

I guess some are afraid to give out any more info about themselves than they have to. But what is wrong with telling where you live? Do you think someone is going to hunt you down or something.

I think of the term, paranoid every time I see this.

Iv'e often wondered the same thing but i was just waiting for some old grouch to gripe about it so that when i hopped onto the band wagon i wouldn't stand out too much.

The way i look at it Ft. Lauderdale is a very big city come find me:p besides how do you even know if that's the truth? But it is in my case.

Yeah, it is nice to see where people are from, for casual concersation to helping them determine what something is worth...it is just nice to know, makes you feel like you actually "know" them. I guess some people are cautious to give out too much info over the net and others just like to put funny (at least to them) sentences in their "location". Oh well, diff strokes fur different folks.

I know Bruce. I was just razzin' you back. But don't feel bad, my wife calls me a old grouch all the time. She is a little more blunt about it though.

One thing about getting older, which is rather nice in a way. You can ***** and gripe all you want to. Folks don't pay you much attention though.

I even use my real name here. There are only 4 Slonakers in San Antonio (Mom, Dad, wife, me), so it keeps me honest.

We don't have the best contacts with the U.S. right now , because of all that juridic crap , Iraqi's using our universal competences laws to sue General franks , for instance.
It sucks...

Hey , Low 83
I'm a vet too , went to the Persian Gulf in 91 , "Southern Breeze operation" , clearing sea mines , remember Dubai ?

Yo! baron,
dont be ashed bro! While we might have a problem with your government, that dosent mean we have a problem with you

Heck, lots of people in the world right now think the US government was way wrong with iraq, but that dosent mean they hate the american people individually [unless they are from the middle east! ]

To Low83

Hi mate ,
I was on board A961 Zinnia , a supply ship for the accompanying Belgian & Dutch minehunters .
I went to Dubai for a ship repair , to Abu-Dhabi , Fujaïrah , Bahrein , etc... for short leaves & bunkering.
I remember also we met (one of the) USN fleet(s) at sea : impressing sight

I remember we went sometimes with a few fellows to Hertz to hire a Caprice Classic 305 .
The gas there costed us a 1/8 of the belgian price , so the option was : WOT

I have also a lot of Persian Gulf memories from 1987 , when I got invited to USS La Salle & USS Jason.
Their back visit on board our ships was very impressive for the US sailors : there was a lot of beer...
mmmmmmm...

Knowing that , their "dry ships" were sometimes empty & our messes full

Dyersburg TN, It's great to live in a town where i can go see a chevy engine get put between two wheels whenever i want. Home of the Boss Hoss motorcycles. i wish i could get a gathering of chevy truck owners from around to start a club or something. i like getting to gether with people and shootin the you know what about plans for their rides and stuff. I've seen quite a few sharp looking chevys around here. i guess i'm gonna have to start chasing people down nd harrasing them.
I'm already a member of the forked deer antique car club but i would like to join a club that's more tailored for trucks too but just aint none around that i can find.

Cheers,
