Re: '71 Chevy shortbed, Iowa
I've seen this truck on there for a while. I swear it was on there for $2500 about a month ago or so.

Re: '71 Chevy shortbed, Iowa
Yes but if I relist something again I delete the first post so it doesn't look like its been on there forever... ;-)
And I keep looking at that shortbox thinking that seems a wee bit much. But there have been a few decent ones on there lately. I was suppose to pick up a 70 longbox to use for parts/furniture today, but the ice slowed that down so I'm grabbing it Monday night... Posted via Mobile Device |

A lot of people don't even delete their ad when the darned things sell. A person would have to look at it before making any decisions but if the cab supports, core support, and inner panels were solid, the workmanship decent, and factoring in all of the work done so far it may not be a bad buy. If the things I mentioned were true, it wouldn't take much to make it a 6k truck. LockDoc

Re: '71 Chevy shortbed, Iowa
That ones been on there for awhile... I know it was on there back on oct when I bought mine. And I am almost certain I saw it @ 2500.
If you use the option to renew an ad rather than make a new one it will just bump the current ad to the top. Posted via Mobile Device |

Re: '71 Chevy shortbed, Iowa
I remember seeing it as well. Being untrusting of others work kept me from wanting to check on it. I'd rather have a rougher/rattier body that I can fix right without having to dig out gallons of plastic.
Plus, patina is in, right?

Re: '71 Chevy shortbed, Iowa
I was going to look at this truck in Late November, called the guy and he had said it just got sold. It was listed for $2500 OBO. Now less than 2 months later it is listed for a considerable more and without even taking new pictures.

Re: '71 Chevy shortbed, Iowa
this one popped up
http://desmoines.craigslist.org/cto/3580923330.html but it just looks funky... the front end is out of whack. youd think the driver front wheel would contact the back of the fender. the guy says its a weak spring... usually that means they sag down, not backwards... looks to me like it shifted or something broke instead |

Looks like that could possibly be on a late 70's chassis. If you look at the rear wheel it appears to be a little forward as well. Leads me to believe 73 or newer since they were a shorter wheels base. |

Re: '71 Chevy shortbed, Iowa
yeah but 2 inch difference in wheelbase can make a huge change in mounting of cab and front clip which trickles to the back

Re: '71 Chevy shortbed, Iowa
double checked it......67-72 c10 with 8 ft bed is 127 inches, 1973 up with 8ft bed is 131.5.......that can throw things off a bit.

Re: '71 Chevy shortbed, Iowa
My guess is some one put 73-87 front springs in this truck which causes the rear axle to be moved back. The rear axle isn't centered in the wheel well stock on K20's. So between those two, it really makes that truck appear wacked. But who knows, it definitely could have a different frame under it.
