Gas Tank '48.
Newbie here with a '48 3100 5 window. The owner gave me a good condition original fuel tank as he installed one behind the seat.
I want to go back to stock, but all I have is the tank and fill neck. Does anyone have a pic of what the installed tank looks like and/or how the straps mount. Thanks |

Re: Gas Tank '48.
I did a far amount of research before i came up with my mount on the Cheap.
Factory OEM Hanger mounts are still available, new or used. Same mount a Panel/Burb uses. |

I'm going to a big swap meet tomorrow in long beach, so I will look around as there is lots of Chevy stuff there.

Re: Gas Tank '48.
Follow up question. I have the tank frame mounts. The rear of the two has 3 bolts and has factory holes. The front bracket looks like it doesn't go directly on the inside frme rail.
Is ther a spacer of some sort that holds this one in place between bracket and frame rail. Thanks |

Re: Gas Tank '48.
Good post. After all is said and done, the duals I have on my six will interfere and will do the same should I install a V-8.
So, I'm going to place a mustang tank or other like it under the bed and then remove the inside cab tank and plug the funky hole the former owner made. When done, I will then list my two stock 47/48 tanks with filler necks and one set of brackets. Thanks |
