Jed's 49 3100
Hi everyone
Started my build a couple of years back it's a 1949 5 window chevy p /u with 60 years of rust pic from ebay Attachment 1050950 got it from texas and had it shipped up to port huron put it in storage there and waited to get my passport a few weeks later we went down and picked it up Attachment 1050993 the fun starts the first thing that didnt look good then some more good finds frame has big bad holes so was thinking what to do get a frame or do a s10 frame swap well being cheap and having a 97 blazer with a rusted out body sitting in my driveway you know where this is going |

Re: Jed's 49 3100
The blazer only sat in the driveway when the wife was not driving it but I was looking for a replacment. I work on the truck in the summer because of the small garage on the house 12X20
it's time to take a good look at it now Find the common rust spots floors, inner&outer cowl, cab corners then for the unexepted above corner windows, back of cab at belt line, inside panel around rear windows started to take it apart seen on a site about striping parts with a batt charger this is what I started with here is the part after cleaning and a little wire brushing |

Re: Jed's 49 3100
This is the stripping tank I ended up with after going a little bigger 4 or 5 times tank with front fender in it
after cleaning some parts it looks like this Half the hood I would leave the parts in the tank 1to7 days removing them to pressure wash the converted rust off every couple of day. I think this help with the time it took to clean the parts inner fender before pressure washing it |

Re: Jed's 49 3100
used a 2 wire fan motor from 02 blazer
changed the wires - to power this will make the fan run the right way making the wireing harness for under seat fuse box and relays |

Re: Jed's 49 3100
Gauges are looking nice. Is that a couple of aftermarket gauges fitted in the original housing?
