Dually to SRW
I have an 87 crew cab dually that I want to make SRW.
It has a Dana 70 in the back, and I was wondering if I put a SRW fleet side bed on and changed the dually rims to normal rims, would the wheels line up with the bed flush like on a non dually truck? Has anyone done this conversion and is this all i need to do to make the truck SRW instead of dually? |

It will be to wide. The wheels will stick way out. Like he said you'd be better off buying a single wheel. Have any pics of your dually?

Re: Dually to SRW
I plan on doing the same thing to my truck. Its a crewcab longbed though i dont know if that matters. But I have heard that humvee h1 rims have enough negative offset that they will just bolt on to the drw hubs? Has anyone else hear this too? With the track width be the same as in the front as the rear? Sounds like a simple conversion to srw and get the sweet humvee beadlock rims too.. Anyone else know if this will work?

Nice looking truck, Must really want a single wheel to change your look.

You would have to get a SRW 14blt ff rear (check gear ratio) to replace the D70 which shouldn't be too hard to find (I have 3 out back). You should be able to use the same bed if you remove the fenders. 87 3+3 I think your truck looks good the way it is. |

Re: Dually to SRW
ya, i either want to put brushed aluminum alcoas on it or stock white wheels. I love the way white wheels, bumpers, and mirrors look. I dont know what kind of wheels are on it off the top of my head. I will check this evening though.

Re: Dually to SRW
Ive got 2 complete sets maybe even more of the white wheels if your interested in maybe making a deal. And ive got family that goes to Idaho on occasion who could possibly make it happen without shipping. Dont be fooled by my location, my two rigs are in Southern Colorado with my dad.

Re: Dually to SRW
Looks good Don't change it. It would be cheaper to buy a srw then to change it

Re: Dually to SRW
Yeah i think i will just leave it dually if it is going to be that much work. I don't have that much of a problem with it and i will be hauling a camper and towing trailers. I was just thinking it could be more of a daily driver if it was SRW.

Re: Dually to SRW
I have been thinking about buying a dually and changing it to single rear wheel as well because the crew cabs are hard to come by where I am and the dually's are selling for amazingly cheap. If I can't find a cheap single rear wheel I will probably be buying a dually and doing this swap. Can't be any harder than swapping a bed and axle, right? front axle swap as well?

Re: Dually to SRW
Truck looks awesome, let it be. The gas it would eat as a daily driver would pay for a shorty with a SB in little time.
