high beam indicator color?

i was dreading this job, the previous owner of my 72 had put in Autometer water and trans temp gauges at the bottom of the cluter, then they put a recall tach where the speedometer was.

needless to say some parts got cut up.

today i removed the cluster, radio and 5 pounds of wiring.

fortunately for me they didn't disturb the original harness to much.

when i bought the truck it came with boxes of parts, 3-4 clusters not complete or assembled.

finally the question!

i have it all figured and working, but the high beam indecator apparently in the speedometer is red?

i found some tubes with color lenses, the only place i figure it can go is the high beam lamp indicator.

Red high beam lamp?

Re: high beam indicator color?

Thank You.

it was driving me nuts, there where clusters parts and pieces that i didn't tear apart.

haven't seen anything but blue hi beams ind. in years!

the job is going real well once i decided to tackle it.

i hope the fuel gauge works now, if not, that is the next project.

Re: high beam indicator color?

yeah, factory red high beam indicator. wonder if there is a simple way to swap to either a blue or a green like the turn signal indicators.

Re: high beam indicator color?

you sure can. it is just a cardboard tube around the bulb with a colored lens at the face plate.

the green would be real simple, just get one form the blinker, you'd have to make a lens for blue is all.

I kinda like it red, very different.

UPS delivered a box of parts yesterday, i have the new head light and wiper switch knobs & bezels, screws and a new speedometer cable.

I'm ready to finish it up
