82 1 ton price.?
Looking at a 82 1 ton dually with a 454 and auto ( would guess 400) and its one of those Cls ads that just states make a offer.
Truck looks to be in great shape and has 88,000 miles good tires and states runs good. states it has a dana 70 rearend. anyway what sounds like a fair price for something like this.? $2500 or so |

Re: 82 1 ton price.?
IF it checks out I would $2-2500 would be a good price, go up or down according to the condition of things like hidden rust, interior & carpet, A/C functioning, etc.
On the surface it looks great, you gotta wonder where his mind is. |

Re: 82 1 ton price.?
Yeah I hate it when they dont list a price as they have one in there head. I think if it checks out I might through 2500 at him. Been looking for a truck like this for awhile and they are either rusted out or have junk drive trains in them.

Re: 82 1 ton price.?
454's are not really hot in our trucks right now, due to gas prices.
Id go there with 2500 cash on you, hand the guy 2000 and see if he keeps it. Most people never wanna let go of cash put in their hands. Worst that can happen is the guy says that aint enough, and you show the 500 you have left Over 2500 and Id walk away

Re: 82 1 ton price.?
So what color should the motor be in a 82.? The picture looks to be a blue/green but I was thinking it should be black.? Wondering if its got the original motor in it, going to look at it on Saturday so I guess will see then for sure.
Says $3,000g well atleast he put a number on it now. Posted via Mobile Device |

Re: 82 1 ton price.?
If he says 3k he'll take $2500 if he wants to sell it - in most cases.

Re: 82 1 ton price.?
Guess they think some dumb butt will offer them a huge amount or something, I did not call him untill he put a price in the ad.
Just hope it looks as good in person and is not ragged out. I did find a 86 1 ton dually 454 4sp 4x4 for $3500 that looks to be rust free as well so if this 2wd dont pan out I will look at it but would rather have a auto. Regular cab dually seem to be harder to find but dang if you want a 4 door they are all over..lol Posted via Mobile Device |

Re: 82 1 ton price.?
Sometimes its better to sit back and wait,Most who need to sell it will start lowering the price to get it gone.

Re: 82 1 ton price.?
That really burns me when they don't price things on Craigslist. I don't consider them if there is no price or picture. It is the Internet, take the time to put up a picture and price your stuff.

Re: 82 1 ton price.?
why does it matter what color the motor is? if you dont like it paint it, and if your worried about it being what he says it is i would be looking at casting numbers, not the color

Re: 82 1 ton price.?
I think his point was more to determine if it was the original or if it has been monkeyed with.

Re: 82 1 ton price.?
I got my 87 CC Dually for 1100 cash from a guy on criagslist and no more than a week later there was another one up for 1500. Both ran. Well mine runs great and the other said it did. Anyway I think that price is a bit high.

Re: 82 1 ton price.?
I believe the engine should be blue. My 79 454 is originally blue and I don't think GM went to black until mid 80's.
If it's in a rust free part of the country and is solid with original sheet metal (hasn't been monkey'd with) I'd personally pay much more than $2500 for a 1 ton with a big block. Depends on your location but a truck in the condition I mentioned above would sell for twice that East of the Mississippi. If it has alot of rust repair under that paint job then I'd personally shy away no matter what the price. But being a painter by trade I view things a bit differently, I got sick of rusty vehicles a long long time ago |

Re: 82 1 ton price.?
im not trying to be a jackass i was just saying if it runs good and its installed correctly it being the original motor is kinda a moot point, plus the color is too easily changed to use that as a judge, my motor is an 83 original to the truck and its orange, which they stopped i think about 76,

Generally when I'm looking for old vehicles like this, I prefer the original unmollested engine. If it's been messed with I shy away and keep looking no matter how good it might run. |

Around here, that is pretty high for a 2WD truck.

Re: 82 1 ton price.?
I found my truck up in Battleground, WA. I'm heading up to have a look at another one in the Salem, Oregon area just south of Battleground. Seems I'm always finding nice original paint trucks up in that area. Down here they are all sun baked and need interior
