Do you run a fire extinguisher in your truck?

Jeep and Land Cruiser guys mount them to the roll bar. It's probably as much for looks as anything, but there's no denying that it could come in handy.

Have you mounted one? If so, where?

What states would those be? Lived in many, never heard such a thing, so am curious.

I have on in my 71, so I guess I was legal.

Mr. B, every one I've ever seen, including mine, has been mounted vertically on the passenger kick panel, just aft (oops - EDIT: just FORWARD) of the door opening. Kinda directly in line below where the passenger a/c outlet woudl be.

Having a fully loaded extinguisher on board is one of the safest feelings you can have. I have mine on the floor on the Trans tunnel. It's a 2-lbs chrome and Worth every dime I paid for it.
Plus, more and more Cars shows are stipulating that a extinguisher be onboard.
If you don't have one, get one. Mount it where ever you want, just get one.

Thanks guys. I can't mount mine on the floor in the middle, because that's where my wife sits.

Any other ideas for spots to mount it?

Also, I like your dash cover. Where'd you get it?

That's quite a sharp truck you've got there.
-I keep one on board too. Like a condom, I'd rather have it and not need it, than need it and not have it!

I am always paranoid that it's not going to be big enough. That's why I have a 20 pound one in the toolbox.

Re: Do you run a fire extinguisher in your truck?

Over the years I have found the floor right in front of the driver's seat has worked really well and is easy to access from inside and outside the vehicle. While a lot of people use the far right kick panel my passengers were constantly kicking it. Plus it is a little hard to reach without running around the truck and finding the door locked just takes even more time that you may not have.

This was the suggested location for the GM accessory extinguisher, and where most trucks had them. I mounted one on the roll bar of my Blazer. In trucks with utility beds they get mounted inside the first door behind the cab on driver side. I've mounted on the hump but it gets in the way. I always carry one

Re: Do you run a fire extinguisher in your truck?

I have one mounted in front of the drivers bucket in the Vette. One will going in the truck in the same place in the truck once the interior is done.

Not yet but today was the first trip to town...........................Better to have it and not need it than to need it and not have it.

I say the same thing about my gun.

Jump online and order one from whoever you can get them from. I ALWAYS tell everyone that keeping one on board will be one of the best protective things you can do for your truck and yourself.

Re: Do you run a fire extinguisher in your truck?

I run one! Most importantly, its not mounted anywhere. It sits in the floor board so if something happens I can pick it up and get to business. Not fight with it, and then put out the issue.
