20" wheel backspace
I'm trying to hurry and order some Eagle 225 wheels for my 80 C10 before cutoff time. I'm running 20x8.5 front and 20x10 rear but I can't memeber the backspace needed to tuck inside fenders. I've done a search but can't find the correct response. I think its 4.5 front and 5.5 rear???? Any confirmation or correct info would be greatly appreciated!!!

Re: 20" wheel backspace
Well I ordered the 4.5 front and 5.5 rear since noone had any input. Hope they fit with no issues. If anyone has any suggestions of tire size I'd appreciate it. I was thinking 245/40 front and 295/40 rear

Re: 20" wheel backspace
I wanted them this week. Bad habit of mine. I may wait on something for months but then when I decide I want it, I want it NOW!

Re: 20" wheel backspace
My opinion,... the 225's don't come with enough BS up front.
I like a 5.25"-5.5" BS on a 8.5" wide wheel.

Re: 20" wheel backspace
X2, agree with Keith.
As for tires, it all depends on the look you want and personal preference.... and if the truck is bagged or lowered. The tire size you mentioned, I believe, are in the range of where you want to be.... again, all personal preference. |

Re: 20" wheel backspace
With a 5.5" backspace on a 10" wheel, you will not have to narrow the rear end.

Re: 20" wheel backspace
My 225s are 20x8.5 fronts with 255-40/20 toyo proxes STII tires and 20x10 with 295-40/20 toyo proxes STII rears. 4.5" backspace front and 5.5" backspace in the rear.
I need to roll the lip on my fronts, since they rub a bit when going over a bumpy turn. In my opinion, the backspacing is right on, unless you're going for hellaflush. Pics: ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |

Re: 20" wheel backspace
It rubs the tires, not the wheels. I haven't noticed any damage to them. It only rubs every now and again. If I had 245s in front instead of 255s, it might not. It's going to depend on your drop too. I have 2.5" spindles and 2" springs, but it's at least another inch lower than I expected

Re: 20" wheel backspace
I'm doing the same drop and possibly cutting 1/2 coil off too. Maybe I can get my fenders rolled prior to finishing the body work

Re: 20" wheel backspace
I would try it out first before you roll the fenders. If your tires don't require rolling your fenders, you will have done it for no reason. You can always roll them afterwards. YMMW - your mileage may very
