12 bolt / 5 Lug

Will a 12 bolt / 5 lug that came out of a 70 Chevy pick up fit in my 87 LWB without modification

I don't know right off but.....

Measure wheel mounting surface to wheel mounting surface and the spring perch spacing. That will tell you if it will bolt right in. Check the yoke for compatibility with your current yoke/u-joint and check the brakes for having the same or close size wheel cylinder bore for braking effeceincy.

Re: 12 bolt / 5 Lug

Probably not a bolt in unit. The early trucks rarely had leaf springs so the mounts are different. The mounts can be bought cheaply and placed on the early axle. I think the shock mounts are different also. Also a '70 model would be 6 lug unless someone has swapped the axles already. '71 was when they went to 5 lug and '73 is when they went back to leaf springs as standard equipment.

Re: 12 bolt / 5 Lug

Thanks, I can see in this picture it's a coil spring , guy wants to sell me a rear 12 bolt posi w/ 4.88 gears. A bit steep for gears but my truck is not a daily driver anyway. Says its 5 lug, I figured he swapped the axles
