How to convert 4speed 205 Transfer Case to auto??

I have an 205 transfer case that is bolted to 465 4-speed. Is there any way to convert that over to bolt up to 350,400, or 700r4. I know they have different splined shafts. I don't see myself using the 4-speed and would like to keep the 205 transfer case. Can this be done easily.

Looks like you just have to rebuild it with the right input shaft for the trans you want.Take a look at http://www.northwestfab.com/Transfer...afts_c_74.html But im not sure on the bolt patern of the t case but they sell a adapter if needed tho.

The adapter goes with the trans , the inputs can be changed. all can be done with hand tools.

Re: How to convert 4speed 205 Transfer Case to auto??

Is this something that can be done pretty easy by myself or should I take it to a transmission shop. I pretty much do all my own work but have never tore into a transfer case.

Yes, takes about 1 hr to change the shaft if you have never done it.

Wouldn't it be easier to rebuild the t case vs the trans tho?

Re: How to convert 4speed 205 Transfer Case to auto??

Advance adapters makes an adapter (coupler). Goes from the ten spline to the 30 or whatever it is for the auto trans. You will also have to find the automatic style "adapter". This piece goes between the transfer case and the trans. What trans are you going to use? Every trans has a different "adapter". Go on e-bay and look at all the different units. Just don't buy anything til you know exactly what to buy. Check with us first here and we will steer you right.
