Satisfaction with the LS swaps????

You guys that have made the swap into the Blazers, How are the results? I finally worked out from under an LT1 I had started and have picked up a low mileage 5.3. Plan on DBC, aftermarket harness, stock manifolds and using the factory mout compressor.

I love my LS swap. I wish the 5.3 had more power but it does well just cruising around. Someday I'll build it up. On a side note, I had to swap the stock truck manifolds out for a set of stock ones off of a camaro because the width was too wide for the frame. I sent the computer to a guy in South Dakota and had him delete the stuff I didn't need, made a custom harness that was pre-labeled, and had a performance tune on it.

Good luck with the swap!!

Re: Satisfaction with the LS swaps????

Love mine, used a 6.0 and a 4L60E behind it. 3.73's with 33" tires and a custom SD tune. I get 22 mpg highway and 17 mpg city. Ran 14.40's at 95 mph. Plenty of power for a high centered 4x4

Re: Satisfaction with the LS swaps????

Very happy here. However, I get nowhere near what FirebirdJones gets.... the last I checked I get 11mpg on average. But, that's with 4" lift, 35" tires and no top... I do have a bit of a heavy foot because it sounds and feels so good.

Are you speaking of your K5? Because that's exactly what I did my swap in, a 72 K5 to be exact. I'm stock lift with 33's though.

How do you like your 8.1? I'm looking at buying a suburban (03-06 model) 3/4 ton with the 8.1 if I can find one with decent miles on it. I run a GM crate 502 in my 79 1 ton pickup, love the grunt.

Re: Satisfaction with the LS swaps????

Yes, I'm referring to the K5...but I haven't checked my mileage in a year or so. Maybe its better.

The 8.1 is not yet running. My other two trucks are driveable. I'm getting close on the 8.1, though....

I'm late to this thread but what about the stock '72 transfer case. How did you fit it into the 4L60E?
