Re: Farm K20

It does look like it has a lift but if you look close at the front springs they look to have a negative arch like the 73 on up springs. Rear tires don't look centered in the wheel openings, are you sure it hasn't had a frame swap?

Re: Farm K20

Has rust in some really bad spots ( rear wheel arch ), rear bumper seems to be pushed in just a little.

If you gave less than a thousand, at least you a have a decent base to build a new one.

I feel sorry for these old trucks and wouldn't hesitate to buy one I liked.

If you decide to make the bed into a trailer, you've already got a V notch in the frame. Too bad it's on the wrong end.

Looks like a CB was mounted there. The hole was to clear the knobs?

The patchwork on the floors is, um, creative.

Re: Farm K20

The Good...It does run and drive(supposedly)...the wheels(not sure what they are from)

The Bad...The rust, the patchwork, the hole in the glove box door(c.b.)the lift is a homemade job(not good)..no bumpers(appear to have been ripped off)

Not sure if it has been body swapped or just sagging leafs...Any other ideas??

The frame looks to be 69-72 with stock springs, yes has a home made body lift. looks to be used and put away wet but it's still a start.

The wheel is a GM 2500 wheel used 2007-2010 .

I hope you got the key for those locking lug nuts. Otherwise you've got some work cut out for you to get all 32 of them off.

A 1/2" extension usually works in these pretty well.

Man the old truck is rough, but I've definitely seen much worse. What are the plans for it Jeremy?

They are 8 point so a square bar the right size will do the trick I think Ryan is right that even a 1/2" drive will work. Doesn't seem like much of a theft deterrent given this but thats the case.

Actually the western MN and Dakota trucks usually aren't too bad. The frame on this truck just has light rust. Eastern MN, wisconsin and eastern midwest seem to use more salt but there are still good trucks here that have been imported or resided on the farms. I've got examples that have less rust than some southern trucks and on the other hand I've got a 72K20 that has a frame about half its original thickness due to rust that came from wisconsin. It sat in a warm garage every night while each days salt brine ate into it. Now its really only good for other parts.

Thanks again Jud,,,I took a chance on this one..The title, vin plate, spid, frame,is all I was after,,Everything else will be replaced..Since the farmer said his brother bought this in 74 he thought it was original, they relaced the motor a few years ago and rebuilt tranny last year..Beat up but all there...

Where the heck is South Dakotah? Is it west of Minnesotah?

The truck has certainly worked a few days in its life. Nothing that can't be fixed or replaced.

I was not offended, I should have put a smily up.

I was going to type that 3/4 ton 4x4's are tough to find, but then I read your signature!

If you find anything else in SD and it's close to me let me know before you buy it, I would gladly check it out.

Re: Farm K20

Jeremy, it was also interesting when I went to pick it up. I called the guy a few days before and told him it would be saturday and he said ok. I then called on saturday am to let him know I was on my way. I got there and his parents then started hastily unloading old metal toys from the bed but leaving the rubbish in there of course. I did throw a bunch of old jugs and trash out of there for you but there was too much for my containers. So, it was even worse when I saw it .

I didn't try to run it since the battery was dead and I have a winch. My uncle and i were trying to figure out how they did that to the rear bumper and the only thing we could figure is a payloader with a big chain or a big a** tractor

The good news is its a true K20 and everything looks correct about the running gear and chassis (when I was underneath it), however i didn't check the numbers on the frame since you were already committed. Believe it or not it just has light surface rust on the frame. It has a hackjob body lift on it but I believe its the original body and SPID. I was also dumbfounded by the hole in the glovebox door and figure its for a heater.

The front frame horn is torn a little on the passenger side and the rear is bent some. All this can be fixed. I can help you weld and straighten it this summer if you want to swing by my place.

I still think you did ok since you know authentic K20's with clean titles are hard to find.

Re: Farm K20

Jeremy, I figured you had a total body replacement in mind. This will be good for that. By the way, what looks like part of the frame sticking out the back is just the inner part of the bumper. The rear of frame is still bent but its not kinked that bad.
