Choke cable problem

How do you remove the out protective sheathing from the choke cable to expose more of the wire - The end of the wire broke off yesterday now its too short???

...pull the wire a distance to leave only sheathing exposed; snip off sheathing; push wire back thru the now shorter sheath...
I also know another, but more complicated, method.
