Power steering gear box adjustment?
Anyone have information on power steering gear box adjustment. My truck has the wandering thing going on. I think the box is not adjusted properly. I was planning on using a dial indicator off of the pitman arm and adjust the box until only a very small amount of steering input causes pitman arm movement. Any other suggestions?

You can adjust the steering gear easy enough, but you need to be careful not to over do it. That can ruin a steering gear easily. When I adjust a steering gear I only give the adjusting screw 1/8 of a turn at a time until I take up excess slack. You will need some slack in the gear so you won't want to adjust it all out. Some thing that you should check before you start adjusting you steering gear is your tie rod ends, pitman arm, and the tires. If any of those are bad or your tires are half worn out, that will cause the wandering problems you are experiencing. Also if your truck has the old bias ply tires, those were notorious wanderers..
