Help id some parts!!
So I picked up a 58 GMC BBW Cab this weekend and i found this in the glove box and was wondering what it was and if it worth anything. I know one a column mounted turn signal but it looks old maybe a add on dealer item. just trying to find out some info on them. Thanks in advance on any help you can give. Tony

You have an optional most likely dealer add on turn signal assembly. The second is a transmission selection indicator used on an auto truck. Both sellable. I like the gmc indicator, it's just cool lookin.

I sold my old column turn signal a couple of years ago for $25, in good working condition, and it didn't look as cool as yours. The Hydro shift indicator could be repurposed into a cool wall mounted bottle opener.

how would i check to see if the turn signal switch works? I thought that was a shifter indicator, is it for the 4wd unit?

You can hook the turn signal switch up and try it fairly easily. That one would be from the mid 60's or later as it has the 4 way flasher switch on it. That's the second lever below the main lever.

At the risk of showing my age, you used to be able to buy those bolt-on turn signal switches at Checkers and Western Auto!

The GMC Hydra-Matic shift indicator is worth some $$ for sure. Any Hydra-Matic part is pretty hard to find. I'm pretty sure that is '53-'59 GMC. Yes, I believe the Hydra-Matic was 1st offered in 1953. Good one to sell on the web.
The switch is maybe $20-$40 cleaned up, they repop that switch. It's less desireable than the Yankee 960(art deco look) that sell $150-$400 plus Last edited by wood1; 02-18-2013 at 10:21 PM. |
