I need to buy a oil pan for my 70 1/2 ton. I need to know if the stock 7 or 8 qt big block pan will fit in my chassis?

Re: big block oil pan

My 402 with stock pan fit fine and my later 454 with stock pan also fit OK. My stock pans only hold 5 quarts

The pan I am looking at is from a c-30 or bigger so the base of the pan is not square. It is a rectangle and would move it closer to the x member.

Re: big block oil pan

Yes 5 qts is standard. I just do not have a pan ( my pan was to rusty) and have found one local but its the 7 or 8 qt pan. I just wasn't sure how close to the x member it would be.

Re: big block oil pan

My 454 is actually a repurposed natural gas water pump engine. To withstand the temps out here it had a 16qt pan on it with an external cooler so now I need to nab a pan as well.

Re: big block oil pan

I know all the other 7-8 quart pans that i have used on trucks fit the application. Maybe someone will chime in that can give you a yes or no. if my motor was in the truck I could at least give you some kind of measurment..

I have a big pan on my BB with no issues. If you are not in a hurry sometime this coming weekend I will go under and take some pics.
