Anyone using early corvette or camaro finned valve covers

Wondering what to do with the pcv valve hole if you have to run one or just put a breather in place of it

Re: Anyone using early corvette or camaro finned valve covers

I have these, but you must mean the earlier ones. Ive seen guys put a hole in them for a pcv, or put a bung in an oil fill tube and get a 64 corvette threaded pcv valve. For that matter I guess you could tap threads in the vc

Re: Anyone using early corvette or camaro finned valve covers

Use the pcv! Positive crankcase ventilation is a good thing. Removes combustion gasses and re-burns them through Your carb. Also makes your carb work correctly. Also use the correct pcv valve. Some flow at different rates changing the "vacuum" Flow to your carb. If you don't use it, oil will get everywhere. I also run a pipe or hose from the other side to the air filter housing closing the entire system off. And yes I have those exact valve covers.

I just finished redoing mine. I have the PCV valve on drivers side along with a corvette oil filler tube that has a vented cap on it. The passenger side has a K&N filter in the hole. I had oil blowing out of the dip stick. The pvc valve was clogged up and I had a solid cap on the oil fill.

After talking to tech support at Air Lift I have found out that the kit I need is 60811. Per the measurements I gave them. Ride height of truck inside spring and inside diameter of springs.

Running vette valvecovers on my boat with a breather tube only. I've been meaning to make some kind of hidden under the intake pcv system. Or put a pcv valve between the carb and distributor in the back of the intake. Oil gets everywhere!

Re: Anyone using early corvette or camaro finned valve covers

boats use water cooled exhaust manifolds// that motor is pretty spiffy

This picture is the rear of the motor with the chrome mounting flange to the floor of the boat. The rear part of the motor is facing forward in the boat and as said water exshaust.

Re: Anyone using early corvette or camaro finned valve covers

The front of the engine/rear of boat has a cast plate made by edelbrock that mounts just outside the timing cover w 4 bolts.
The rear of the engine has a bell housing with mounting tabs on each side at the bottom.
And as stated water cooled exhaust manifolds.

Cool motor setup could you post a couple of full pictures of the boat? I would like to see the over all picture of it. What kind of ski boat is it? Ski Nautique , Mustang, Correct Craft? I love the old Master Crafts!
