Got some new shoes today

I had a set of 454SS wheels on CL for sale, and a guy contacted me asking if I wanted to trade for a set of black 20's. SURE! I loaded up my 4 wheels and mismatched tires, and headed on down the 1 hr ride to Georgetown SC. Met him in a parking lot and swapped. It was the easiest transaction from CL I've ever done....too easy. He gave me 4 wheels, one with a blown tire, and then a nice new spare tire to replace the blown one. Great! Looked where the tire was blown just to make sure I didn't have any crazy cracks or bends, and it was good. Loaded up and went home (no center caps btw). Got the 3 good wheels on the C10 and realized that 20's are WAY too small with the current stance of my truck! Started checking out the other wheel, and I found a nice flat spot in the lip of the rim, nowhere near the sidewall blowout! Tire must have spun on the rim. Checked around to find that these are Lowenhart LD1's, which are discontinued and ran about $3500 a set. Crap. Center caps for these things are $120 a piece! Crap. My nice new tire, wrong size. Other tires are 245/35/ZR20, this one is a 245/40/ZR20. Bigger sidewall. Ah well, it's what I get for not paying attention. Thankfully I'm not out any $$, and the old ones I traded were just an extra set I had laying around and in the way. I know everyone says you can't fix a bent aluminum rim, but I'm gonna check around here anyways and see what I can get figured out. Wheels are 20x8.5. If you guys have any ideas, please share! Also, if you think I should go to a bigger tire, please share that too!

And yes, I know my driveway is a horrid mess. I am just finishing up a very messy motor swap in the C10, and my pressure washer is on stand by, in the front of my garage!

I'm running 275/45 r20 Falkens on my 20 x 8.5 MB Wheels Old Schools with 5" BS. I think it looks and rides good.

Re: Got some new shoes today

I think you got a great score! I do think the rears are in a bit, but you could probably correct that with some spacers. I would go with a bigger tire, just to help fill the wells.
I don't know about repairing the flat spot, but if you didn't notice it and it holds air, live with it. The price was right. Lowering it would also make a big difference. But with bigger tires you'd be fine like it is.

I think the 454ss rims would look better. Those lowenharts look like they should be on a Honda civic.

Re: Got some new shoes today

Yeah, I had the 454 rims on the truck for about 5 minutes. Didn't look right. Not that these rims look a ton better, but for the value vs. value, I couldn't beat it. As far as not noticing the flat spot and it holding air, I didn't notice cause I wasn't looking in the right place. Holding air I won't know about until it gets the new tire put on, which I may wait until I find a bigger set of rubbers before doing that. I have a friend that owns a rim shop (he only sells, no repairs) so I am going to check with him on Monday to see if he has any decent used tires. Also gonna check with him to see who fixes his rims. He does a lot of wheel repair - he does the big chromies for all the homies....then they run from the police (me) and the often bend their wheels once I get them stopped (read that as once I force them to stop).

Re: Got some new shoes today

they should have a wheel doctor or someone that goes to dealerships and fixes bent wheels. We have a guy that comes twice a week for used cars touch up curb rash wheels and bent ones if needed and does great work!
