Re: Correct style headlights
A few years ago I did a little research on this while doing a frame off on my vette. Not fact but consensus among the corvette, camaro, chevelle, and nova guys is that T-3s where being phased out for the 1970 production year and replaced with the sealed beam. As the stock of T-3s ran out at the factories, sealed beam replaced them. There seems to be plenty of documentation showing these cars with both T-3s and sealed beams, depending on plant, in the 1970 production year and a few in the 1971 production year. I remember several quips about the trucks being in the same boat but nothing definitive. The T-3s where available in the after market for many years. It's not uncommon to see the T-3s in 1970s & 1980s cars at car shows. The T-3s are being reproduced and exact copies are readily available.

Re: Correct style headlights
On my 69 Chevy PU the T-3's lasted for a long time. Just recently replaced one that was original to the truck. I know that for a fact. But very seldom the truck has been drove requiring the lights until the law changed to require them during wiper operation.
