Emergency brake cable issue
I was trying to get my 72 cheyenne ready for a state inspection and the only think stopping me was that my parking brake did not hold because the cable was frayed. I bought a new cable from LMC and installed it yesterday. The truck holds fine in gear, but it doesnt lock up the back tires when driving (it comes to a stop, just not screetching the tires). Im fine with its operation, but im wondering if that is good enough to get my inspection sticker. Like I said, it holds in park and reverse just fine. What do yall think?

Re: Emergency brake cable issue
Depends on what they require. Why not call a station and talk to a inspector? Personally I think it is fine.

Re: Emergency brake cable issue
I have never had an older GM car be able to lock up the wheels using the e-brake. I concur, call the inspection station.

Re: Emergency brake cable issue
A properly adjusted parking/emergency brake with all the components is good order will lock up with the vehicle rolling, anything less points to warn out parts and or adjustment issues.
