Tilt Column Restoration?

Any known board members here know how to restore a truck tilt column? I would like to get mine done putting new groomets, paint, and if necessary new harness? Thanks!

Get out and drive the truck this summer and have some fun!
It sucks not being able to hear!

LWB trucks rule, if you don't think so measure your SWB!
After talking to tech support at Air Lift I have found out that the kit I need is 60811. Per the measurements I gave them. Ride height of truck inside spring and inside diameter of springs.

Re: Tilt Column Restoration?

Hey, I see your in Vegas. If you are a hands on guy and want to attempt it yourself I got some of the "special" tools. Maybe we can meet up.

I have 1 tilt completly apart and am wanting to order all new rubber and then paint or powder coat the other pieces.

Thanks, John

Re: Tilt Column Restoration?

There is a guy up in St Louis MO that does cluster and colums. I bought a cluster from him and it was amazing. with the eception of a small issue with the speedo but that was not his fault I don't think. I think his name that he goes by is 70 short wide or something like that. He seems to be a really good guy to deal with , I was gonna have him build me another cluster and we talked about it but I just never have gotten back to the project and time slips away from me so easy when something else comes to the shop.

Re: Tilt Column Restoration?

Luis,

Did you decide what you are going to do with the column? I ended up ordering the last "special tool" I needed to take apart these columns the right way. So if you decide you want to attempt it I will help you out.

I think I ran into you at the pick a part today, if so...thanks so much for letting me get the jack.

I sent a friends request.

Thanks, John

2X on that! The older I get the more I'm realizing that there is no substitute for OEM in most cases

I got mine from Amazon. It was like $35 or so. I can get you a link once I get home.

Re: Tilt Column Restoration?

Thanks! Where is the best place to get new groomets for the columns? Or is it one company that makes them?
