Turbo 400 question
I have a 68 C10 with a turbo 400 transmission. I just installed the driveshaft and linkage. It doesnt have a dip stick yet and I also need to put fluid in. I started the truck to see if it would go into gear but it didnt do anything. I didnt want to leave it running or try for very long because of the no dipstick and fluid so I only tried twice. I'm new to this so any help would be awesome!!

Don't do that! Put fluid in and hope you have not already ruined the trans. Fluid is what makes the bands clamp which makes it shift. You may need a new trans.

It wont do anything without fluid. you need dipstick and fluid before running it.

Got it. It does actually have fluid but its needs to be changed. I do need a dipstick however....

Didnt mean to scare anybody but I want to correct myself. It does have fluid but its old. I meant to say it didnt have new fluid. It does not have a dipstick so I was curious would this make it not engage?

No leaks at all. I have a dipstick coming tomorrow. I will put that in and drain the fluid and put some new fluid in. Thanks!
