Angry ever get to the point..

ever get to the point of working on your vehicle and think.... i'm done i can't do this anymore! That's where I am with this truck. every time i get a step forward i take 3 back and i'm growing quite tired of it.I wish may would hurry up and get here so i can get the convertible out and drive it before i do something i regret.

Don't get me wrong i love my truck and am amazed how far it has come since i started 3 years ago. just thought i would have more by now i guess... idk just one of those days.

sorry for the rant.

Dru

I feel your pain ,mine has been in the bodyshop for almost 2 years now with little hope of getting done anytime soon .I just keep hoping for the best and collecting more parts that may never get used . Good luck with your project.

Re: ever get to the point..

I feel your pain, I sometimes want to sell my 89 and go back another decade just to be free of the random metric bolt.

Let me see, if I were a chevrolet engineer, I would introduce some torx, allen, phillips, metric and standard fasteners all on the same car.

Just to **** with people.

I have been tooling away for two years replacing every metric piece of SH!T on my truck. I have gone so far as to drill and weld bolts studs and such for proper standard thread pitch and even gone out of my way to order specialty bolts with metric threads and standard heads.

Re: ever get to the point..

Yep. It just sat around taking up space most of 2012...Near the end of the year I fixed it, and now I drive it once in a while. A family member needed help moving, so I was motivated to fix it...I'm glad they moved, or the truck might still just be sitting.

Re: ever get to the point..

Took my truck off the road in 2004 and wished in some ways I never did. Too many days were I wish I'd just slamm a motor in it and go. But then there are days were I'm ready to go.

"you should just get a new one"!
still happens here once in a while lol

Dru, take it from Bob's post - it will get better. I've had my square for 35 years, bought it brand new. Can't tell you how many times I wished I could have hauled it off to a wrecking yard and be done with it. The real satisfaction is tackling the seemingly overwhelming problem and solving it. Once solved, the satisfaction can be downright euphoric.

Re: ever get to the point..

Happens to me. Especially when I find something that I cant fix. I hate having to put the job in someone elses hands. I dont know everything about fixing vehicles but that is why you have a toy. Something you can mess with and not have to rely on. Just read the line in my signature.

Maybe you have not been around them long enough yet!! I have ran into it as well, but other times when I had a tough day on the job,it's almost like a type of therapy to work on my old trucks. It helps having more than one also,if one is giving you grief, just go work on another!! You need a bit of rough going too,if it was easy then everybody would want our trucks eh.....

i have been working on cars for 20 years, so i have been around long enough, what i do is i try to pick something that is within my abilities and when i get frustrated i might back off for a few hours, i have never given up on a project because i know what im in for, that and i i always figure it will take three times the budget i figure and twice as long!

no ruffled feathers here! im just sayin, if this hobby frustrated me that much i wouldnt do it. but what i have not mentioned is that when i do get frustrated and i back off for a few hours for that time i usually go put holes in something with a high powered rifle!(excellent stress relief!)

I daily drive mine and its frustrating when multiple things go wrong cause I just cant take time to straighten them out. Ive come close to selling, but I just hate the thought of someone not taking the care of it like I do.

Re: ever get to the point..

I go through this with every project I have.....but it's not because I am disgusted or frustrated with the project itself, I have a severely disabled 5 yr old son. We almost lost him at the beginning of Feb. It just takes the wind out of my sails and I dont want to work on anything. But when he is doing good, I love to get out and build things.
